Soft Modding/Hacking my xbox, the hell of hotswap

There are many different ways to hack / softmodd an Xbox. I used Krayzie Ndure Pack with splinter cell and a hot swap. Now let me explain. First I didn't know crap about what to do. So I spent a few days looking over videos on youtube. They all stated that I needed this game/action replay/computer. Well I had the computer so I was one step closer alrdy! So off to ebay to see what I could dig up. Action replay, hell screw that, 30 f'in bucks for that pos.

Game? Splinter cell 5 bucks. Hell yea--one step closer to greatness. hehe Ok, so now I decided to check some stuff out while I waited for my game to arrive. I spent days looking over tuts and videos and just couldn't decide which to use. Then I found an old as hell video from this young kid. It explained how to hot swap my xbox hard drive. Now I'm gonna tell you, it was hard. I also got a lil shock from screwing with this (it was like playing a real vers. of Operation...electricity included).

So I will tell you first hand, let the professional idiots like me do that crap for you. So my first attempt wasn't very successful, but I'd be damned if I was gonna give up and buy that action replay. lol So what next for a logical man to do? Search through more videos! hehe Ok so I found a way to cut my xbox controller wire and splice a usb wire into the cord thus creating my very own action replay device! Helllll yea boy. lol

All I needed was to find a usb stick and I had like 20 of them around the house. I was stoked. I spent nearly 30 mins making this controller. My own new usb controller device hehe. I used half a roll of black tape on that pos. I am on a f'ing roll, kicking butt, taking names n completely kicking action replays butt! 30 bucks sheesh! Ok so I got that done, hooked up my xbox and my game was here by then. I was all rdy set start. hehe

Then I tried the first usb device, bam froze my xbox. After cussing a few times, I restarted it. Then bam--froze again. Then I removed that pos and threw it against the wall to make room for my next device. It didn't work either, but this time it didn't freeze my pos. It just, didn't work, at all. So I tried the next and the next and the next. None of them worked. I was aggravated and I thought about killing the dude that made that youtube video.

I was down, pissed off--but not beaten! Action replay had not beaten me yet! So what is someone like me to do next? Back to searching for answers! Ok so my only choice was back to hot swaping, so this time I started to read more about hot swaping. I wanted to know everything there was to know about it. So I found two tuts and a youtube video. :^/ Yes very insightful, nevertheless! I was back on track. I read about how if I screw up with the hotswap I could lose my xbow forever. :^/

Ok so you gotta be careful, don't get shocked, don't shock the hard disk. Don't drop the hard disk, don't fart on the hard disk, puke on it, breath too heavy at it. You pretty much have to rely on pure old dumb as crap luck. Btw I also found out that the xbox has to unlock the disk first so if you hot swap to fast and don't give the xbox time to load correctly it won't unlock the disk. So my "swap-as-soon-as-I-turn-the-thing-on and try-to-do-it-as-fast-as-possible" wasn't the best idea I've ever tried.

Ok, so it takes about five times of swapping but I got that crap to work. Take that action replay!! Mwahaha. So I get all my stuff together, put my xbox back together and it's time to f'ing hack that pos right. I get my game going, have my hack all installed on the hard drive. Ok so now it's time to hack this pos!!! Hell yea! I am stoked!

I put the game in, load that thing up, play the game like it said in the tut and then went to select Linux. Then it happened. Bastard f'in froze....so I restarted and tried again. Froze yet again. I was pissed! I went over the tut again like a good lil hacker. I try not to post on the forums unless I have to. I looked over every step, I went over it twice. I couldn't find anything that I did wrong. So I go into the hacked files and notice two folders. The tut said copy the one folder--and the tut couldn't be wrong now could it? Then I go over the tut and the tut is for the game mech warrior: some [insert stupid name here]. Not for my game, so the tut could be wrong.

Ok so back to hot swaping, hoping I don't screw up my xbox. Blaw blaw. I hot swap, 4th time was the charm and I got it. I swapped over the two files, cussed the dude who wrote the tut, called his mom a few names and blaw blaw blaw I get back to the game. It installed first shot--no freeze, nothing. I'm happy as a fly on crap.

Ok, so I finally got that thing hacked and rdy to go, it's nice too. I have a bunch of emulators on it now and can play all the old games I beat ten million times in my past. It's wonderful lol
